Cracker

Class information, as well as, Trait and Ability Options for the Cracker Archetype.

Cracker

Crackers excel at long distance cyber-breaches, invasions and cyber-warfare. They are the masters of long distance penetration and malware implantation.

Crackers are limited in scope by their inability to interact with the environment directly while utilizing their “Rig” and their dedication to exploitative code writing rather than a balanced coding background.

A cracker’s rig will typically take the form of a Computer Suite, a Synapsor or an Immersor.  Crackers cannot activate their subroutines or access all of their CODA without a direct connection to their rig.

Playing a Cracker

XP Cost: 8 Prerequisites: Intellect or Wisdom Score of 14 or higher

When you choose this Archetype you gain the following:

Ability

Data Crack

Engineering Rolls you make to gain access to Devices, Systems and Networks are made with a +2 misc. Bonus.

You can use your Action to Roll Engineering Skill Roll to “Crack” the security on a digital Device, System or Network you can access physically or through a network. This act creates 2 Digital Noise. The DC is equal to 10 + the Security Tier of the Device or Network.

When you do so successfully, you gain guest/user login access to that device. This level of access allows you to: Save files, personalize your profile, access any unrestricted programs/applications and activate Subroutines on that device.

You lose access if the system is shut down or a user with admin access boots you from the network/device.

Devices, Systems and Networks you Data Crack consider you to be a user and allow you to access non-admin level settings, applications and programs.

Subroutines cost you 1 less CODA to Activate when used against a Cracked Target(minimum of 1).

Traits

Program Logic Exploiter

While you are not considered fluent in programming languages, you have a large repertoire of exploits and work-arounds that allow you to excel despite your less rounded programming education.

You have an additional Overpower option for Malware or Spyware Subroutines called

Contagious: Spend an Additional amount of CODA equal to the original cost of this Subroutine (-1, minimum of 1) to target 1 additional viable Target with the same Subroutine.

Whenever you use your Engineering Skill to access programs and applications and perform hacks and exploits you add a misc. +2.

Cracker’s CODA

You are considered to have a starting reserve of CODA equal to your Intellect Modifier + 1.

Some digital devices can grant your additional CODA reserves while equipped.

Equipment

Cracker’s Gear

Acquire a Common or Uncommon “Rig” from the current from the Narrator approved Buyer’s Guide Era or section.

Acquire a common suit of Light Armor from the Narrator approved Buyer’s Guide Era or section.

Training

Cracker’s Training

You gain training in the Engineering Skill and 3 of the following: Knowledge, Investigation, Perception, Insight, Fine Motor, Debate, Charm, Deception or Intimidate.

Code Exploitation: You can use your Engineering skill to access programs and applications and perform “hacks”.

Incognito

If you Hit you may deliver a Cyber-Attack Subroutine to the target at no CODA cost or additional Turn Portion Cost.

Your Avatar gains 1 additional Melee Attack per Turn.

Synapsor Specialist

XP Cost: 4 Prerequisites: Cracker

While using a Synapsor you may use 1 CODA Cost Subroutines at no Turn Portion Cost(you must still spend CODA to activate).

Overpowering or increasing the cost of a Subroutine means that it no longer costs 1 CODA and thus it cannot be activated by this Trait.

If successful, you are made aware of the name, function and typical CODA cost of the subroutine targeting you.

Virulent Viruses

XP Cost: 2 Prerequisites: Cracker

Your Malware Subroutines have their DC to quarantine and Purge increased by 1 for each 12 hour period of time they remain in an active(powered on/ in use) system(limit of 4).

Infesting Viruses

Abilities

Personal Virus

XP Cost: 4 Prerequisites: Cracker

You have designed your own personal virus that is more virile than the ones you find on the deep net.

You possess a personalized virus Subroutine. You may name it whatever you see fit.

Digital Noise Generated: 4

CODA Cost: 4

Requirements: Network Connection

Subroutine Traits: Implant Virus

Range: 100 Meters / Network

Target: An uninfected digital device, cybernetically enhanced individual or robot.

Turn Portion: Full Round Action

Effect: The Target must Roll an Intellect Saving Throw. The DC is equal to your Subroutine Save DC.

Failure: If the Target Fails the Saving Throw they are infected with your Virus, which has one of these 3 effect options. Choose one Effect + accompanying Overpower Option during character creation or archetype selection.

Option 1

Critical Malfunction: The target acquires 1d4+1 Fate Dice. Until all fate dice have been used or within the next hour(whichever comes sooner) you may cause the target to roll any d20 roll with one or more Fate Die/Dice, and are limited by the number of fate dice the target acquired.

Overpower: Spend 2 additional CODA to add +1 Fate Die.

Option 2

Critical Overheat: The target is immediately dealt 8d8+8 Burn Damage directly to their HP Pool. They continue taking 1d8 Burn Damage once at the start of their turns unless they use their action to suppress the fire or the virus is purged/quarantined.

Overpower: Spend 1 additional CODA to add +1d6 Burn Damage to this instance of infection.

Option 3

Critical Logic Breakdown: The target suffers -4 Penalty to all Insight, Charm, Debate, Deception and Intimidate Skill Rolls until the virus is purged or quarantined. In addition to this the target suffers a -4 Penalty to all Wisdom Saving Throws.

Overpower: Spend 2 additional CODA to increase the penalties this virus incurs to Skill Rolls and Saving Throws by 1.

Success: If the Target Succeeds on the Saving Throw they are unaffected and uninfected. The user’s Turn Portion and CODA are still spent.

Overpower: Spend 1 additional CODA to:

  • Add +2 to the Save DC for this instance of the Subroutine.

All options have this overpower text as well

  • Add +25 Meters to this instance of the Subroutine’s Range.

You can overpower as many times and in as many ways as you can afford to do so.

Tweak Virus

Once every 12 hours you can spend 1 CODA and an hour of your time to tweak your Virus. Roll an Engineering Skill Roll to do so. The DC to succeed is 14.

If you Succeed on the Skill Roll you successfully tweak your virus and may grant it one of these additional effects until you tweak it again. See Table below for reference.

If you Fail the Skill Roll you gain no additional benefit, and cannot attempt again for the next 12 hours.

Data Slice You Steal 1d4 CODA from the target’s reserves(if they have any). Take the CODA acquired and refill your own CODA reserves. This CODA acquired can exceed your CODA Maximum.
Power Surge The target suffers from the Dazed Condition until they are no longer actively infected with the virus.
Data Drain The target must pay 1 additional CODA per Subroutine they activate until they are no longer actively infected with the virus.
Expose Access Ports The target has their AC reduced by a number equal to their cybernetic or robotic limbs and body parts(head, torso, tail, etc.) until they are no longer actively infected with the virus.
RAM Drain The target has their movement speed reduced by 2 meters each time they perform an Action, Motion or make an Attack until they are no longer actively infected with the virus.
Power Drain Each turn the target takes any Actions or Movements or makes any Attacks they lose 1 Stamina that turn(for the whole turn, not one for each action) until they are no longer actively infected with the virus.

CODA Thief

XP Cost: 5 Prerequisites: Cracker
