Technonaught Archetypes
An overview of the Technonaught Archetypes.
Technonaught
Tech-No-Naught: A trailblazer and explorer that lives on the cutting edge of technology and software. Technonaughts are professionals in the realms of Technical Expertise and Digital Warfare.
They excel in settings that rely heavily on technology and network connections, such as: internet, extranet and other global network systems. They are not suitable for low tech, or wilderness settings, as their abilities rely on access to technology and network systems.
CODA
All Technonaughts gain access to CODA; A resource representing a character's technical and programming expertise and the processing power available to them at a given time.
Most characters that possess CODA gain their base amount from their Intellect Modifier/Brainstorm supply. Computer Rigs and Modules can further increase a character's CODA reserves.
Subroutines
All Technonaughts gain access to Subroutines; A series of quick programming commands or inputs that achieve a specific result if successful.
They act like hacks or digital spells, and allow technonaughts to manipulate robots, drones and technology at a level unachievable by any other means.
Subroutines cost XP or Funds to acquire and cost CODA to Activate.
Subroutines are divided up into several different types:
- Optimizations - Subroutines with beneficial effects that are typically used on one’s self or friendly units.
- Utility - Subroutines used to gain situational advantages in various scenarios and combat situations. They often rely on sensors and network connections in order to function.
- Cyber Attacks - Quick Subroutines with instantaneous negative effects that are typically used on non-friendly units.
- Malware - Malware Subroutines typically take the form of a “Virus”, which must be suppressed or purged from the unit in order to stop its effects.
- Spyware - Subroutines that are typically a type of malware intended to track or retain data from another unit over a period of time.
