Armor Class

Contains information about the in-game concept known as Armor Class or AC. Describes how to calculate AC for characters and creatures.

A creature’s AC is a representation of how difficult they are to actually damage in combat. When rolling an Attack Roll of any kind your goal is to reach or exceed that creature’s AC. Doing so is considered a Hit and failing to meet that value is considered to be a Miss.

Calculating your AC

Light or No Armor

While wearing Light or No Armor, creatures will always have Less Armor Points but will typically have a higher base AC value. Relying heavily on Dexterity to avoid damage.

AC while wearing Light or No Armor is calculated using the following formula.

5 + ________ + _______ = AC

Armor MOD DEX MOD

Medium Armor

While wearing Medium Armor you will always have More Armor Points but you will typically have a lower base AC value. Relying heavily on Strength or Dexterity to absorb or deflect damage.

AC while wearing Medium Armor is calculated using the following formula.

2 + ________ + _______ = AC

Armor MOD STR or DEX MOD

Heavy Armor

While wearing Heavy Armor you will always have More Armor Points but you most likely have a lower base AC value. Relying heavily on Strength or Constitution to absorb damage.

AC while wearing Heavy Armor is calculated using the following formula.

Armor MOD STR or CON MOD
